How to Make Ozonated Water

How do you ozonate drinking water?

Most of our customers use the Aqua-8 Multi Purpose Ozone Generator to create their drinking water. The Aqua-8 has the ability to purify anywhere from a glass to a gallon of water!  It can also be used for bath water in tubs, small storage tanks, and fish tanks. The Aqua-8 is used to remove undesirable tastes in water including chemicals, odors, and colors caused by iron, copper, maganese, chlorine, and organic chemicals such as pesticides and herbicides.

To treat water, place white or gray dispersion stone into the water container (no more then 4" deep) and leave the unit on the recommended program function. Keep the unit above the glass so that water does not enter back into the machine. Also, the diffuser stone should be no lower than four inches into the ozonizing glass. Take these precautions and your machine will run effectively and for a longer period of time.

  1. Start out with clean, filtered water
  2. Use a large glass and ozonate for 5 minutes
  3. Keep in mind, ozone has a half-life of 30 minutes, so the ozone will dissipate from the water quickly
  4. After the initial morning glass, try drinking one glass every 2 hours ozonated at 2 minutes each
One gallon of water= 20 minutes ozonation

One glass of water= 2 minutes ozonation

What does drinking ozonated water do for me?

There are a few things the ozone does for drinking water. It kills all pathogens in the water. No more worrying about whether your water is pure of these harmful bugs. It rids water of poor tasting chemicals, including chlorine, pesticides, and herbicides.Ozone generates an unstable molecule of three oxygen atoms instead of the two found in regular oxygen. The unstable molecule breaks down quickly while the extra oxygen atom attaches itself to any contaminants in the water. When it infuses the ozone into the water, the third oxygen atom may very well be the source of the extra boost of energy our customers experience with the ozone.

Barbara C. commented in April of 2015, “…It was originally recommended by my dentist and hygienist. My teeth and gums are also happy…”

Another customer, Becky L, says “…I have used it to purify drinking water after filtering. We haul our water and if it sits too long algae forms This Aqua-6 Multi Purpose Ozone Generator] helps to purify it. I have used other methods, but this does a gallon at a time and no chemicals.”

Hi Chu, we don’t recommend for anyone to drink ozonated water unless they are directed by a medical professional. After ozonating water, the water will hold ozone for around 30 minutes before it dissipates. I would recommend having your friend speak to their doctor. If there’s anything else we can help you with let us know! – Emily, Marketing Manager

Hi Jon, the Aqua-6 can be used for 5 gallons of water. The treatment times would just need to be adjusted and you would have to make sure the stone is no more than 4 inches deep into the water. This will prevent back flow into the unit. — Emily, Marketing Manager

Can model AQUA-6 to purify a 5 gallon carboy of water?

Hi Jordan, we recommend these times because water can only absorb so much ozone before it is fully saturated. If you continue to run the Aqua-8 after a certain amount of time, the ozone will just go into the room and not in to the water. There will be no negative impact on the water, there’s just only a certain amount of ozone that 8 ounces of water, for example, can hold. Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions. — Emily, Marketing Manager
