Decide whether you will be treating air or water to determine which ozone generator you will need.
Air
For air, determine how many square feet you want to treat. Also, consider what kind of contaminants are in the air and how strong the odors are. These will help you determine which A-Series ozone generators to buy.
Water
For water, decide what application you are using the ozone generator for. There are many applications. Then, decide how much water you will be ozonating.
Aqua-Series--personal Ozone Generators--for smaller uses
Use this series for small ozone projects, drinking water (one glass at a time), and small bathtubs. You can clean fruits and vegetables from the produce section of the grocery store. You can help cut down on fish tank maintenance.
MP-Series Light-Duty Ozone Generators--for larger home-based uses
Intended for lighter-duty applications than the industrial or commercial lines, these ozone generators are for heavier-duty applications than the Aqua-Series.
The table below shows how oxygen affects ozone production.
Unit | Maximum Ozone Produced with Oxygen | Approximate Ozone Produced without Oxygen (About 1/5) | Max Ozone Runtime per Use | Oxygen Generator Compatible? | Regulator Setting for Oxygen Generator |
600 mg/hour (under test conditions) | 120 mg/hour | One-Time or Can Repeat Every Hour or Every 4 Hours | No | n/a
800 mg/hour | 160 mg/hour | One-Time or Can Repeat Every Hour or Every 4 Hours | Yes | 1 LPM
1 g/hour | 200 mg/hour | One-Time Run, up to 4 hours | Yes | 1-3 LPM
3 g/hour | 600 mg/hour | Can Run Continuous | Yes | 2-4 LPM
5 g/hour | 1000 mg/hour | Can Run Continuous | Yes | 2-4 LPM
8 g/hour | 1600 mg/hour | Can Run Continuous | Yes | 2-4 LPM |
SP-Series--Swimming pool ozone generators
These ozone generators are generally used for pools. Some fisheries will use these, although a commercial grade ozone generator is a better choice. For an approximate list of which unit to use for which pool, please click here.
Use the Aquatic-Series only in a spa setting. There is the Aquatic 2 and the Aquatic. Visit the links for specifications, how much water to treat, and the wattages.
S-Series--Industrial strength ozone generators
Designed especially for laboratories, universities, and hospitals, the S-Series handles chemical research, such as COD (chemical oxygen demand) and BOD (biochemical oxygen demand) of organic material with ease. Also used in wastewater treatment and ozonolysis, find the S-Series with convenient features. Depending on the amount of water to treat, you can find an S-Series ozone generator suitable for your application. You need an oxygen source or an external pump to run an S-Series ozone generator. Z-Series--Commercial strength ozone generators
Use the Z-Series for commercial applications such as water bottling companies and hospitals. Well water, reserve tank, fruit and vegetable sanitation, and light-duty wastewater.
Lab-Series--laboratory ozone generators
Designed for use in scientific research, the Lab-Series ozone generators also serve the pharmaceutical industry. They ozonate water for medical, chemical, industrial research, and wastewater treatment facilities. They feature customizable airflow and ozone concentration outputs.
