Ozonating Meat, and Poultry – A2Z Ozone, Inc.
When cooking meat and poultry, it is extremely important to disinfect the produce completely in order to eliminate common foodborne bacteria. Products, especially in the meat industry, are vulnerable to numerous diseases that can manifest in processing areas due to poor sanitation. Common foodborne diseases such as E. coli, Salmonella, and Trichinosis are extremely harmful to consumers if untreated. So how do you effectively disinfect meat and poultry before use? Let’s take a look at how you can use your ozone generator for disinfection!
How to Ozonate Meat and Poultry
The process of disinfecting meat and poultry with ozone is a simple process that you can do at home! All you need is your Aqua 6 generator, the meat/poultry you are disinfecting, water, and a gallon tub.
- Plug in your Aqua 6 generator
- Fill tub up with water
- Place tube and diffuser stone into filled tub
- Put Aqua 6 on setting 15 and let run for 30 minutes
- Place meat/poultry into tub after Aqua 6 finishes run time
- Let meat/poultry soak for 30 minutes
- Take meat/poultry out for use
Soaking meat and poultry in ozonated water kills salmonella, E. coli and other harmful microbes. The preservation time of the produce is also increased by 2 to 5 times! Compared to other chemical sanitation methods, ozone stands out in that it will leave no chemical residue. Although ozone is a powerful disinfectant that is able to kill bacteria and viruses, the only residual chemical of ozone is oxygen. As a result, ozone sanitation is more effective and organic than chemical processing.
