When your shoes get to smelling bad, there are a lot of things you can try. You can throw them in the wash or stick dryer sheets inside the shoes, for example. But in my personal experience, this illusion of odorlessness only lasts about half a wear. By the time you take your shoes off again, the stink is back! If you’ve ever wanted to have truly fresh shoes, try an ozone generator. An ozone treatment attacks the sources of odor and will leave your shoes fresh.
This is very easy; just follow the instructions below! For this project, you can use any of our air units.
- Get a plastic tote and cut a hole for the exhaust of the unit to fit in.
- Cut another hole (on an opposite side) for excess gas to escape.
- Place your tote in an unoccupied space.
- Then run the unit for 30 minutes or less with the fan on.
That’s it! Take your kicks after letting the ozone dissipate, give them the sniff test, and place them in the tote for another round if needed.
When operating an ozone generator, please remember to remove people, pets, and plants from the area. Be sure to leave the area being treated immediately and only return once the ozone has dissipated. Under most conditions, the treated area should be safe to return to 30 minutes to 1 hour after the unit stops producing ozone. Treated spaces or buildings should be well-ventilated prior to re-entry.
